August 2025
Organizations who are currently or are interested in serving free afterschool meals to needy children in Missouri can earn additional reimbursement money under new rates announced by the United States Department of Agriculture this month (July 2025).
At-risk afterschool participants in the Child and Adult Care Food Program may collect an additional 17 cents for five-component lunches and suppers in the coming school year, according to the announcement. This makes the base rate $4.60 per meal at sites that qualify under USDA rules. Typically, this involves serving in a place that is within the attendance zone of a school with half or more students qualifying for free or reduced meals under the National School Lunch Program.
